Tampa’s Premier  Children’s Portrait Studio – Summer at the Movies

This summer The Cobb Theater at the Groves has allowed us to team up with them for several of their Free Kid Movie Wednesdays. First of all, I think it is a wonderful thing for the theater to do for parents with kids out of school. It is freaking HOT here and having a nice cool theater to take your kids to for a movie  …. plus it is FREE, is awesome.

Wednesday was the first movie event we participated in. To make waiting in line a bit more entertaining for the kids we provided a fun Circus Themed Photo Opportunity for them. Of course it was FREE as well! While the kids were in the movie, Jalyn and I were busy printing the images and packaging them up ready to go for the parents and kids! That’s right … the parents/kids were able to take their fun circus picture home with them after the movie!

Here is what we had the kids do for their pictures! They all had quite a bit of fun choosing the “photo booth” sticks to pose with! I think all in all we photographed over a 100 kids. It was a ton of fun!

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Premier Portrait Studio – Time to update your Professional Image

When is the last time you updated your professional portrait? For many of you I am sure the answer is (ummm I can’t remember the last time I had that done!). If you are a business professional in this day and age of social media, it is imperative that you stay current with your look! Don’t be embarrassed when you meet a client and they say to you “wow, you look nothing like your profile picture”. The worst thing you can do is take your own picture with your camera phone and use that as a representation of who you are. You want your clients to hire a professional, you should hire one too. Let us create a professional image for you that will impress your clients and those who you want to be your clients.

We LOVE to GIVE in October

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Premier Children and Family Portrait Studio

During the month of October we always celebrate our local community by supporting a charity or organization we admire and love. I may not be a huge company, but I do know that we have the power to raise money through the generosity of our staff, clients and referral partners. I prefer to keep the money raised in our community where I can see the faces of those impacted and watch how their lives are effected!

Two months ago I met a young man named Gleb. He is a Senior at Eryn’s school, Academy at the Lakes, and had come to the studio for his Senior Portraits. I usually can tell right away when meeting someone if I am going to have fun photographing them. When he walked in the door, smiled and showed me his outfit choices (all perfectly coordinated), I knew we were going to click! This boy had put thought in to his session!

While Gleb was changing I had a chance to talk to Eric. Eric runs an organization called The Renaissance Project (luckily I have spell check to help me get that right!). Gleb is a Russian student that Eric has sponsored here since he was 12. After chatting with Eric and learning more about the amazing work he does to give a group of boys the chance to change their lives for the better I was hooked. He shared the same passion I have for celebrating the life of children. Whether through education or art, the results are the same. Children’s lives are impacted for the better!

Eric’s organization www.renproject.org is the organization I have chosen to sponsor this month.

Here is what I have planned so far for the month:

  • 50% of all session fees will go towards goal
  • 5% of frame sales will go towards the goal
  • Special donation opportunities (email me for details)

What is the goal?? My goal is to raise $2000 for them this month. I know we can do that!!!! Please take the time to look at their website to learn about who they are and you will see how much this money will mean to them!

Christmas in July – July 28th

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Premier Children Photography Studio – Christmas in July Open House

I am so excited. Christmas in July is my favorite annual event for the studio and it is coming up next weekend. I mean seriously … who doesn’t love some Christmas cheer in the middle of the summer?

We will be setting up miniature versions of our 3 Holiday sets this year as well as the Santa Set. This will be your one chance to preview what the sets will look like in person.

What is so awesome about this open house?

Father’s Day is June 17th … have you thought about what to get him yet? This year we have two different options for Father’s Day Mini Sessions.

1. Bring dad in with the kids and they can have some fun in front of the camera together …. OR

2. Bring the kids in with stuff to represent dad’s job and surprise him with fun pictures of his kids dressing up like him!!

Either way, dad will love his present this year. Remind him what being a father is all about :)

Ribbon Cutting – New Studio Location

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Premier Children’s Photography Studio – Studio Ribbon Cutting

We have been in our new location now for a few months. Don’t you think it is about time I did our ribbon cutting with the Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce!? I kept waiting to get everything perfect inside, but you know that never happens. It was very very close though on Friday.

I love our town and the way all the business owners support each other. This is part of what makes living in Wesley Chapel such an awesome experience. I can’t tell you how excited I was with the turn out for our ribbon cutting. You know how it is when you plan something. It is those old high school fears that come through “what if nobody shows up?”. Well that didn’t happen and I even had a few people bring me cards and flowers!!

To make the day even better, we did a fundraiser for Jan Roberts (Little Jan for Big Mayor) and helped her raise $250 towards her goal.

Baby and Toddler Food Series

As a mom I know how hard it is to figure out what to feed your babies and children. From knowing the right “first foods”, to figuring out how to get your toddlers to try new things, to packing a good lunch for your school-age kids! I met Christy Waterhouse of Thee Baby Lady a few months ago. We hit it off immediately and instantly bonded over our love of children. When she told me about this series of food classes she teaches in Dunedin, I was like … “you have to do that on our side of the bay!!!”

So … drum roll please … I have invited Thee Baby Lady to run her next series of food classes at our studio for you guys. She is amazing and you won’t be disappointed.

Baby’s First Foods – Thursday July 21st from 11am till Noon
As a general guideline, starting solids is recommended at 6 months of age. An important time to start planning for your baby’s solid food introduction is between 4-5 months old. You want to be prepared before the actual day arrives!

Come and have baby’s first food at our studio with Christy. You’ll get tips on how to prepare some of your own baby food, how to select the best foods out there, and we’ll actually prepare a vegetable to give to baby that morning! I will be taking photos of all the fun to share, especially the expressions of the baby’s as they try their “first food!”.

This class is perfect for babies ready for a first solid food, as well as babies still on pureed food consistency.

Thee Christy Picnic – Monday August 1st from 10:15am till 11:15am
A healthy food class for your toddler. “Hey, ages 1, 2 and 3, come eat with me!” Christy has a long success of getting little eaters to try new foods that are healthy. With veggies and fruit as her passion, she introduces food to your child in a fun way that gets results. Her motto: “Create healthy eaters. What you do in the beginning are building blocks for the future.” We can’t give away all her secrets, but you don’t want to miss this interactive class! I will be taking photos to capture your toddler’s experience that you will never forget.

This class is perfect for babies over 1 that are able to handle diced foods and toddlers through age 3.
Lunch Box Foods – Thursday August 11 from 3:30pm till 4:30pm
What to pack for your child’s school lunch is a question that you will face day by day throughout the year. Planning ahead is key and can help you to provide healthier choices that go INTO the lunch box. Let’s talk about ideas that will work, how to plan, and troubleshoot so your child’s peers crave what’s in YOUR child’s lunch box!

Class is perfect for preschool & school age children.

You MUST MUST MUST RSVP for these classes as Christy needs to know how much food to prepare. We also can only comfortably fit 8-10 moms/babies. The first to call and RSVP for the class(es) will get the spots.

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Children and Family Portrait Studio – First Communion Portraits

This May many of your children will be taking another important step in their life…. they will be taking part in their First Holy Communion! For those of you preparing for this important milestone don’t forget to include plans on capturing this memory with a First Communion Portrait. We have found that many families commemorate this right of passage with a wall portrait in their home, thus becoming an important piece of your family history.

On an interesting side note, my extended family recently started a private page on Facebook where we have been re-connecting with cousins, aunts and uncles from my dad’s side. My father was one of seven children and my grandfather was one of 14! You have to love Irish-Catholic families. Anyhow, the reason I share this story is on this page, people have been sharing old photographs of aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. Guess what the number one shared “old photo” is besides a wedding photo? You guessed it, First Communion portraits from the 40s and 50s. Fashions have changed a bit, but the importance is still the same.
