Newborn Juliet

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Newborn Portrait Studio – Newborn Baby Girl

I know. I am so far behind in blogging recent sessions. With Ducks, Mother’s Day and yes … if you have been paying attention to Facebook, we are moving the studio, there has not been much time for blogging!

Before you start asking too many questions … I will get all the details out about the move (we are only going across the street) soon.

Today I want to share with you some images from this beautiful baby girl newborn session. We photographed the parents for a Baby Bump Mini Maternity Session a few months ago, so we were anxiously awaiting Juliet’s arrival!

Juliet did not disappoint! She was wide awake for awhile, but once we got her to sleep I was able to capture some amazing portraits of this precious newborn baby girl.

The flower in the portrait below was from a bouquet the mom received in the hospital! I love this idea and hope that more moms will do this in the future. What a great way to personalize your newborn session.

This next one is my personal FAVORITE! You can definitely expect to see this hanging in the new studio soon!

So I am sure you can guess the Gator collection portrait is my second favorite :)

Thank you baby Juliet for being so sweet. The final result was definitely worth all the washing we had to do of the blankets that evening! LOL

If you think Juliet is as sweet as we do, please share some love with the family and comment!

How to Prepare for your Newborn Session

Wesley Chapel and Tampa’s Newborn Portrait Photographer

Our studio has been buzzing with new babies here this past month. Must be something in the water … or something happening about 9 months ago. HA!

When a soon-to-be mom is planning her newborn session with us, I am able to go over many details with her to prepare the family for the newborn session. Sometimes a family doesn’t think about wanting newborn portraits until that baby is born and the preparations for the session is rather rushed.

I just had to break up all this text with and adorable portrait!

I thought it may be helpful to do a blog posting with some helpful hints in planning for your newborn portrait session.

- This may be obvious to some by now, but I have to say it … the newborn portraits you see on my website and all over the internet are typically done before the baby is 2 weeks old. It is critical for them to be this young in order to get them to sleep through all the poses we create.

- We are coming in to our busiest season of the year. I highly recommend if you know you want to have newborn portraits done you call to let us know your projected due date. I can play with my calendar to ensure there is time reserved around your due date so that we don’t miss that magic time window.

- It is very important for your baby to have a full tummy prior to the beginning of the session. If you live near the studio, or the session is in your home, please feed the baby prior to the session beginning. If you live more than 45 minutes away, you may want to feed the baby at the studio in our children’s room.

- Make sure you get a good burp in! Gas is a terrible thing for anyone to experience … and your little one will cry like you have never heard if he/she has gas during their session.

- Bring an extra bottle of milk/formula to feed the baby should they get unexpectedly hungry. You would be surprised how much a baby can drink during a session. If you are breast feeding, you may want to bring a bottle of pumped milk in case you need some extra!

- We keep the studio a nice and toasty 80 degrees during these sessions to ensure the comfort of the baby. You know that means we adults will be sweating! So bring short sleeves to wear while you aren’t being photographed or you will be very uncomfortable.

- No need for clothing in the newborn session (for the baby that is, we prefer parents to arrive clothed!). Clothes tend to be too big and bunchy on the baby, and honestly what we are looking for in the art is the cuteness of smallness of the baby.

- Please bring blankets, hats, sentimental items, etc to photograph with your baby. We love to make your images personal and unique pieces of art. Sometimes this involves planning with me in advance for an idea. Oh darn, extra prop shopping. If you have a vision for a specific image, CALL ME! I love stepping outside the box to help you achieve the ideal newborn portrait.

- No matter what your baby does, know that I am always relaxed. I do this all the time and have seen everything. This session is supposed to be a special experience for you and I don’t want you stressed if the baby starts to cry. The baby can sense stress and it usually makes them cry more. We have plenty of time allowed for your session. If we need to take a break to feed, walk, rock, etc. we can do that.

Lastly, if you haven’t seen our Newborn Behind the Scenes Video, watch it now. It will give you a great idea of what goes on during one of our sessions.

I hope this helps all you soon-to-be moms out there to begin thinking about and planning for your newborn portraits. It is never too early to call and chat with us. There is nothing we enjoy more than chatting about babies!

Behind the Scenes – Newborn Session

Wesley Chapel and New Tampa Children and Family Photography – Newborn Portrait Session Video

Here is our latest released Behind the Scenes Video. This episode is filmed during a recent newborn session.  I love photographing newborn sessions for many reasons. It is the first opportunity a family has to capture the new addition to their lives. This new baby represents so much to them that it is a responsibility I take with great care and pride in capturing their first portraits.

Many ask why I say babies need to be less than 2 weeks old for a newborn session. If you remember when your child was that young, you remember the difference in how they sleep. The newer they are, the harder they sleep! That means we can mold them almost like clay in to lots of different creative positions to create that unique piece of art each family desires. Even with them being that small, there are still lots of tricks I keep up my sleeve to ensure a successful session every time.

Enjoy the video.
